Sierra XP Series Alternators
Efficiency and Cooling
DC Power’s XP Series high output alternators do more than 70 percent of their maximum rated output at idle. Due to the efficiency of the alternators stator configuration they will lose less output when hot. For example you can expect our 270XP to continually do 160+ amps at idle under the most severe conditions due to the alternator not specifically relying on the internal fans to cool the stator. Instead, the XP series alternators work by cooling by the mass of the stator, which acts as a enormous copper heat sink to dissipate heat. DC Power Engineering’s XP Series High Output Alternator use brand new proprietary OEM advanced multifunction digital regulators from Denso. These regulators are held up to the strictest standards in the OEM industry and will completely integrate with your vehicle’s PCM through either direct plug-in or using our supplied adapter harness when necessary. DC Power’s XP Series regulators retain all PCM vehicle specific functions such as but not limited to internal temperature compensation, lamp terminal monitoring, load response control, and alternator load factor.
To solve the problem of higher heat production due to higher output, the rectifiers use 12 50-amp press-fit diodes. The surface area of the rectifier cooling fins is nearly twice the size of conventional fins, improving the cooling ability of the rectifiers. This allows vehicles that typically run larger, single water-cooled alternator or two air-cooled alternators to be replaced with a single air-cooled alternator while providing the same output with more reliability and efficiency.
The efficiency in the stator design reduces electromagnetic noise by 10 decibels. By engineering a newly designed noise cancellation circuit by dividing the alternator’s stator coil into two separate pairs that produce a phase difference (two three phase alternators). This allows the alternator’s AC ripple current to be decreased by 500 percent, which eliminates engine noise generated by the alternator for noise sensitive electronics such as: Inverters, Car Audio Electronics and LCD Screens.
In House R&D Development
DC Power Engineering in-house R&D Team uses the latest programs such as Mastercam X6 and Solidworks 2012 to create our custom billet alternator housings in house for thousands of vehicle applications with extreme precision and efficiency. When coupled with our in house HAAS ST-30 Lathe and HAAS VM-2's Vertical Mold Making Machine to create not only the most dependable high output alternators, but the best looking high output alternators that will be catching your eye for years to come.
From racing in the mud to the extreme 140°F+ ambient temperatures in Iraq, the XP Series alternators has been proven in the line of duty. Due to the hairpin design, the stator wires never touch each other and wont “short out” and leave you stranded if the stator varnish starts to deteriorate in extreme environmental conditions. The XP Series alternator’s brush holder and slip ring are environmentally protected and use world-class Koyo Bearings that are designed to spin at speeds as much as 20,000 Shaft RPM for racing applications. All of DC Power Engineering’s XP Series alternators come with a standard 2 year warranty and all of our components meet or exceed OEM and Military specifications to provide maximum performance and reliability.
